There is tension in Swali Market, the biggest market in Bayelsa State, as the state government halted the Igbo traders association from conducting its election slated for Friday.
According to the traders, the government action was to frustrate the united voice of Igbo traders in the state.

Bayelsa State Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investment, Mr Stanley Braboke, had directed the electoral committee of the association to stop the election until all pending issues were sorted out, but the Igbo traders claimed that the directive was a ploy to ‘scatter’ their association.
