Tension as villagers banish pastor over fetish activities

There is tension in Ndiechi Onuebonyi village in Igbeagu community in Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State over the banishment of Mr. Ezekiel Nweke, a pastor in charge of Yahweh Kingdom Community World Wide.

The pastor was chased away by indigenes of the area for allegedly carrying out sacrifices in the village.

He has denied the allegation, claiming it was a set-up.

South East Trust  gathered that Mr. Nweke was rescued from mob action by police officers from Iboko division.

A resident in the area, Christopher Igube, said the suspect was rescued by a team of policemen on patrol in the area.

Igube claimed that the pastor’s wife alerted the villagers in the early hours of Tuesday.

He said upon interrogation by the vigilante group, it was observed that Nweke was incoherent in his explanation.

Igube said fetish items, including photographs of some of the villagers were found in the apartment of the pastor.

However, Nweke while speaking to journalists claimed that the allegation was a set-up by the villagers.

“I have not offended anybody since I started the church but unexpectedly in the early hours of Tuesday, some persons stormed my church, woke me up and led me to where the sacrifice was kept,” he said.
