The management of the newly promoted club had announced the name of the Benue born football tactician as the most suitable out of many coaches who were recently interviewed for the job.
According to the management of Kwara United, coach Tenger will be unveiled next week so that he would commence work fully with the club.
Speaking to Trustsports on phone from his hometown where he is currently on holiday, the former handler of Niger Tornadoes of Minna said has been charged to win one of the continental tickets for the club, a task which he is ready to shoulder if all hands would be on deck.
He explained that winning a continental ticket for the club would not be a problem for him but for that to be realized, every member of the team must be ready to perform his or her role.
Tenger disclosed that even during the interview, he did not pretend about the fact that he alone will not be able to win laurels for the Kwara State club unless, the management, players and other members of the technical crew would show the spirit and commitment that brings success.
“As expected, the management of Kwara United has charged me to win a continental ticket for the club and I have no problem with that. What I have done is to give them conditions on which the task can be achieved. I have told them to motivate the players, give me a free hand to build the team and they must respect all contractual agreements. I have never pretended to be a magician so left alone, I will not give them what they want from me.
“It may interest you to know that even in the interview, I made it clear to the management committee that they too must play their roles with all commitment. Continental tickets do not come on a platter of gold. It is won through hard work and dedication. I have no doubt in my mind that they understood the message” he explained
Although he declined to speak on the details of his new contract, the widely travelled coach said it is going to be far better than what he was offered by other teams including his immediate past club, Niger Tornadoes.
Coach Tenger said in as much as he wanted to remain with Niger Tornadoes, when Kwara United came for him, he could not resist the urge to go and assist the ambitious club realize its dream of playing on the continent next year.
