All hell was let loose when a tenant at Okinni area of Osogbo, Semiat Azeez, engaged in a scuffle with the wife of her landlord, Rukayat Lukuman, and bathed the landlord’s pregnant wife with poisonous hot water.
Daily Trust learnt that Semiat was reported to the police, arrested and arraigned before a magistrate court in Osogbo for brutalizing Rukayat in spite of her condition.
The Police Prosecutor, Fagboyinbo Abiodun, said the cause of the fight between the duo has not been dissected and the trial at the moment bothers on the assault.
The tenant was remanded in prison while the wife of the landlord was taken to hospital for treatment, particular to save the unborn baby, Daily Trust learnt.
Meanwhile, there was a twist to the case as the family of the victim told the court to discharge the tenant to allow out-of-court settlement.
The landlord and his wife said they wouldn’t want the tenant to be in prison expressing regret over her action and sought for forgiveness.
But the Magistrate, Modupe Awodele, refused to discharge the tenant on the premise that she was very callous to have assaulted a pregnant woman with poisonous hot water in that condition.
The Magistrate remanded the tenant in prison and summoned her parents to appear before the court on 21st of December, 2018 when final decision would be taken on the matter.
