Teenager to launch poetry collection

Chiamaka Jessica Onumaegbu, 14, is set to release her poetry collection, ‘A Girl in the Rain’, which explores her development as a girl-child.

The anthology is scheduled for launch in Port Harcourt in December this year.

Amara Chimeka, CEO of Purple Shelves, publishers of ‘A Girl in the Rain’ described Chiamaka’s poems as “inspiring” and showing a heart full of positivity and optimism, which in a sense, escalates into hope. Such works from the younger generation show that there is hope for our reading culture, for our literary traditions and for us as a people. Everyone should read this collection. Adults should read it to be encouraged; youths should read it to be inspired.” .
