Teenager rescued from hotel where she was raped in Bayelsa

Operatives of the Bayelsa State Vigilante Service have rescued a 13-year-old girl (name withheld), who was reportedly locked up and sexually molested by men suspected to be cultists.

The victim was reportedly at a hotel facility along Bossy Water road in Tombia area of Yenagoa, the state capital.

The vigilance team also arrested a suspected culprit, one Mr. Christopher Abraham, a 37-year-old native of Ndoro comkinity in Ekeremor Local Government area of the state, and handed him over to men of operation Doo-Akpo, a police special security division in the state.

Chairman of the State Vigilante Service, Hon. Doubiye Alagba, who led members of his team on the operation, confirmed that the teenage girl said to be a native of Nembe local government area of the state, was rescued at the facility, while the suspect was arrested.

He disclosed that the suspect has already confessed that himself and his accomplice, who is now at large, are members of a cult group.

He said: “The suspect is a known drug dealer and they are part of the persons causing unrest in the state. Let me also use this medium to warn hotel owners who harbour criminals as quest in their hotel to desist or face the wrath of the law.”

He assured members of the public of the outfit’s readiness to continue to ensure the safety of lives and properties of the citizens of the state.

Narrating her ordeal, the victim, (name withheld) said she met the suspect barely a week ago and he invited her to the hotel.

She said: “When I got to the hotel to meet him, he accused me of cheating on him, saying that while I was away for an exam, I travelled to meet another man.

“He locked me in the hotel room, later in the company of his friend, one Efe, they used a gun to threaten me that I will not go anywhere, they stripped me of my clothes, filmed me with their phones and molested me. He told me that he is a gun trafficker and has been to prison before, that the government knows him.

“I cried and screamed all through the night while they threatened to kill me, until I was rescued by the operatives of the state vigilante security service,” she said.
