Teenager bags six years imprisonment for stealing N6,000 phone, panties

A 19-year-old boy, Olasunkanmi Yekini, has been sentenced to six years in prison for stealing a Tecno mobile phone valued at N6,000.

He was also said to have stolen three female panties and jailed without any option of fine.

The Police Prosecutor, Jafani Musilimi told the court that Olasunkanmi committed the offense on January 28 at Ibokun road, Oja-Oba area, Osogbo.

Jafani said Olasunkanmi broke into the apartment of one Folashade Ganiyu and stole three panties in her bathroom.

He said “The convict also stole a Techno mobile phone valued at about N6,000 belonging to the complainant,” he said.

Jafani said the convict conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of public peace.

Olasunkanmi was charged with theft and conduct likely to cause breach of public peace.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 412 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.

In her ruling, Magistrate Rofiat Olayemi said Olasunkanmi was guilty and sentenced him to six years imprisonment without any option of fine.
