A 17-year-old boy suspected to be a member of a cult group has been paraded by the Oyo State Police Command after confessing to the killing of a member of a rival group at the Iseke area in Oyo West LGA.
Spokesman of the command, Adewale Osifeso, who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner of Police (CP), Adebowale Williams, said, “On 06/03/2023 at about 1120hrs, a distress call was received at the Monitoring Unit Office, Oyo Operational Base, that some notorious hoodlums who have been unleashing mayhem on unsuspecting members of the public in Oyo town had invaded Iseke area where they brutally attacked one Olamilekan Ajakaye and dispossessed him of his cell phones and money.
“Sequel to the distress call, a team of police operatives attached to the monitoring unit moved swiftly to the scene, and as soon as the members of the criminal gang sighted them, they abandoned the victim in the pool of his blood and fled.
“The victim was rescued and rushed to the hospital where he later gave up the ghost and the medical team that attended to him confirmed that he died as a result of the severity of the attack.”

He further said that following investigation two of the assailants (names withheld) were arrested in connection with the crime and an axe, two planks of wood with blood stains and a video footage of the attack were found on the suspects.
