The Katsina State police command has arrested one Mudassiru Tanimu, 18, for allegedly poisoning wedding guests with a concoction that led to the death of one person.

Spokesman of the command SP Gambo Isah, said the suspect had confessed to the crime.

Gambo said, “On 17/11/2019 at about 09:00hrs, the command arrested one Mudassiru Tanimu, aged 18 years of Barhim village, Batagarawa LGA of Katsina State who conspired with one Nafi’u Umar, aged 18 years of the same address (now at large) and prepared concoction which was administered to people in a wedding celebration.”

“Consequently, one Iliyasu Musa, aged 25 and Rabi’u Sani, aged 16 of the same address drank the concoction and became unconsciousness. The victims were rushed to the General Hospital in Katsina where one was confirmed dead while the other is in a state of deep intoxication,” he added.

In another development, Gambo said, “On 11/11/2019 at about 08:30hrs, some cattle rustlers entered into a Fulani settlement camp at Bayan Dutsi, Ruwan Godiya forest, Faskari LGA of Katsina State and attempted to rustle cows belonging to one Abdullahi Kiri, 60, of the same address.

The “victim fired a Dane Gun, shot and killed one of the rustlers while the rest took to their heels. Later the corpse was identified to be that of one Isiya Alhaji Amadu, 35, of Doma Fulani Settlement Camp, Faskari.”

He said a police investigation team succeeded in arresting one Mati Iliya, 30, of Guga village, Bakori LGA of Katsina, who participated in the commission of the crime.
