The 13-year-old daughter of Reverend Daniel Umaru of EYN Church,  Njairi, Mubi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, has regained freedom.

Daily Trust had reported how the lone female child was abducted after her two male siblings were gunned down in an attack on their residence in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The attackers also opened fire on the reverend while his wife slipped into coma.

The incident had sparked outrage while Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa charged security agencies to go after the attackers.

At the burial of her sons – Xelry Daniel, 19, and Fanye Daniel, 23, on Saturday, the deceased mother had said their blood would bring back their sister.

The children were laid to rest at the church’s cemetery in Kwarhi, near Mubi.

On Sunday, a family source told Daily Trust that the teenager was set free by her abductors after collecting a huge ransom.

“We paid money, a huge amount, of course, before they released her to us on Saturday evening, just after her two brothers were laid to rest at the EYN Church headquarters in Karachi.”

“As of now, the father is receiving treatment at the Modibbo Adama University of Teaching Hospital, Yola, due to gunshot injury and trauma,” the family member said.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa State, Sulaiman Nguroje, confirmed to Daily Trust that the teenager had returned home.
He said the police had launched a manhunt for the criminal gang that committed the crime, saying the command would not rest until the culprits were brought to book.
