A mobile phone brand, Tecno, has introduced the first 24MP clear selfie camera smartphone in Africa in an effort to boost mobile phone penetration and grow startup businesses.

In a statement on Thursday, Tecno owners, Transsion Holdings, noted that many startup businesses depended on the proficiency of their mobile phone cameras to grow their businesses.

“Nowadays, smartphones have become a major part of our lives and form part of our style; smartphone photography is the newest trend, and several startups depended on its proficiency.

“Thus, the latest Camon duos are designed to deliver precision and appeal to the consumer,’’ the Vice President of Transsion Holdings, Andy Yan, said in the statement copied to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

He said that the smartphone known as Tecno Camon X Pro, would be shipped into Nigeria in April.

Yan said that Tecno also teamed up with Google to launch a range of smartphones on Android™ Oreo™ System, including the F Series, in Lagos.

“We take insights from our end users consumers’ habits, preferences and needs, to develop the next product that fits perfectly into their lifestyles.’’

“We are delighted to announce our partnership with Google.

“As the mobile industry continues to evolve and consumers continue to ask for more, we are certain with our partnerships with Google, we will be able to effectively cater for the needs of mobile phone consumers in emerging markets.”

According to Yan, Tecno which was established in 2006, had achieved a cumulative sales volume of 100 million units.

NAN reports that mobile phone penetration in Nigeria grew by  84 per cent in 2017 from 53 per cent in 2016, according to Jumia Mobile Report Nigeria 2018.
