Tech firm introduces app on phone theft

A technology firm, E.F. Network, has introduced an anti-theft app, efphonetaxi, to help smartphone users recover or disable their phones in the event of theft.

Mr. Ebenezer Ikeri, the Technical Director of E. F. Network, said customers who install efphonetaxi can recover their stored records on the phones and lock the phones from unauthorised users.

Mr. Ikeri said, “Once any phone is locked, the phone can only be unlocked by the owner, otherwise, the phone is rendered worthless. More importantly, the thief won’t see your personal records or contacts on the stolen or lost phone. Your privacy is protected,” adding that stolen phones had been connected to many crimes, as criminals would not use their own registered phone numbers to commit phone-related crimes.

The Director, Corporate Communication of E. F. Network, Mr. Ameh Ochojila, said the company had established customer service numbers in English and Hausa languages, and added that the recently launched app had started yielding fruits and that the police were very happy to hear about a technology that would assist them reduce phone crimes.
