Team Bayelsa, Lagos and Delta won gold medals as the game of scrabble ended Tuesday at the ongoing 21st National Sports Festival in Delta state.
Scrabble witnessed team events in the four different categories, Masters, Intermediate, Opens and Female.
In the Master team event, it was all smiles for Team Lagos led by Olatunde Oduwole who won the singles event as they won the gold medal with 12 wins out of 15 games with plus 1405 cumulative points.
Team Delta won gold in the Intermediate team event with 11 wins out 15 games with a cumulative 1082 points. Delta also won gold in the Open team event with 11 wins out of 15 games with plus 1510 cumulative points.

Bayelsa won gold in the female category, with 11 wins out 15 games, with plus 1258 cumulative points
The captain of Team Bayelsa, Malafokumo Best, who said she felt elated, attributed her team’s win to diligence and God.
“I feel great, awesome, I am just happy that we won the gold even though it was dicey. It looked impossible because at the beginning, we were like four games behind, but God helped us. We won our six games straight and were able to win the gold,” she said.
