Teach fight against corruption in schools, don tells FG

The federal government has been urged to incorporate its fight against corruption into the educational curricula in the country.

Prof. Ajepe Taiwo Shehu of the Department of Public and International Law, made the call in Ilorin, while delivering the third inaugural lecture of Al-Hikmah University.

He said it would help the government make appreciable progress in its anti-graft campaign.

The lecture was titled ‘Constitutionalism and Good Governance: The Legal-Political Approach to Taming the Monster of Insecurity in Nigeria’.

He said, “Social studies and civic education curricula in schools should include topics on corruption for the country to make appreciable progress in the fight against the menace.”

He added that “the National Assembly should ensure that the constitution is translated into various (major) Nigerian languages for Nigerians who do not read and write in the English Language in order to have a fair understanding and appreciation of the provisions of the constitution.”
