The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has installed and energised five transformers in Suleja, Bida, Zaria and Enugu.

In a statement by its spokesperson,  Ndidi Mbah, the firm installed a 60MVA transformer at Bida Substation and another 60MVA in Suleja Substation both in Niger State.

It installed two units of 60MVA transformer at New Haven Substation in Enugu State and a 60MVA in Zaria Substation in Kaduna State. TCN said it also upgraded a 45MVA transformer to 60MVA at Suleja Substation.

TCN said the transformers have been energised and supplying the various host communities, adding to the several transformers, substations and lines completed using TCN in-house engineers and contractors to be commissioned by the Minister of Power Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola.

With the five new transformers, the statement said customers of Enugu Distribution Company (DisCo) will have improved power supply; customers of Abuja DisCo and Kaduna DisCo are expected to have more power supply around Suleja, Bida and Zaria.

TCN appealed to some customers of Kaduna DisCo over disruption in supply due to the ongoing re-conducting of the Mando to Kaduna Power Station 132kv transmission line which is now at 90 percent completion level.

It said on completion of the lines re-conducting, it would carry more power to Kaduna DisCo through the new two units of 60MVA transformers that has raised the energy delivery capacity for Kaduna to 240MVA.
