The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has accused the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) of being responsible for its inability to supply electricity to customers on its 33kV transformer.
BEDC had earlier claimed on its social media platform that power supply disruptions to its 33kV customers were due to maintenance work carried out by TCN.
However, in a statement issued by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, TCN dismissed BEDC’s claims as inaccurate, urging the distribution company to provide truthful information to customers for the benefit of all stakeholders.
The statement said “For clarity, TCN only carried out a planned outage at the Amukpe Transmission Station on March 11, 2025, which was completed the same day and bulk power supply was restored.

“Contrary to BEDC’s claims, TCN’s maintenance activities were not responsible for the power supply issues experienced by BEDC’s customers.
“The only accurate part of BEDC’s statement was regarding the Ughelli/Shell 33kV feeder T1 60MVA, which tripped due to a fault on March 14, 2025. TCN is currently working to restore the bulk power supply to the affected feeder.
“All other power supply disruptions mentioned by BEDC are due to faults on their 33kV feeders.”
