The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, has said the Nigerian tax reforms bill was introduced to benefit all Nigerians.
Issa-Onilu, represented by Williams Dogo, the Director of Legal Services at NOA Headquarters in Abuja, said the government is implementing tax reforms to make the system fairer and less burdensome for citizens.
According to him, the tax reform bills aim to consolidate all aspects of taxation and administration of tax in Nigeria under four different pieces of legislation.
He disclosed this in Kaduna on the sidelines of the flagging off of a campaign theme “Promoting Awareness, Ethical Values and National Development.”
“Taxation is essential for funding national development, but we recognize that it has been a source of concern for many Nigerians due to issues like multiple taxation and its impact on low-income earners.
“To address these challenges, the government is implementing reforms to make the system fairer and less burdensome for citizens” he said.
He explained that the campaign aims to mobilise Nigerians to unite in their commitment to addressing these pressing issues and fostering a more informed, secure, and ethical society.
The NOA boss urged citizens, stakeholders, and institutions to collaborate in addressing these critical issues to create a healthier, safer, and more ethical Nigeria.
He called on the media to partner with the NOA in spreading these critical messages through their platforms, ensuring that every Nigerian is informed and inspired to act.
