Stakeholders in Osun State have formed a task force to deal with cases of sexual and gender-based violence against girls and women with disabilities in the state.
During town hall meetings with the support of UN Trust Fund to end violence against women, the stakeholders vowed to ensure arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators.
The Centre for Women’s Health and Information (CEWHIN) facilitated separate town hall meetings in Osogbo and Ile-Ife in collaboration with Community Advancement for Self-Reliance (CAI4SR) and Initiative For Girl’s Rights and Health Development (IGRHD).
The Director, CEWHIN, Mrs Atinuke Odukoya, said the initiative tagged Project Hope is aimed at strengthening existing SGBV prevention and response structure for women and girls with disabilities in Lagos and Osun states.

Odukoya lamented that most of cases SGBV against PWDs were not reported and perpetrators are allowed to go unpunished while the helpless victims grapple with the consequences.
The Commissioner for Justice in the state, Wole Jimi Bada, assured that the state government would work with stakeholders to address the problem.
