Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), the security taskforce maintaining law and order in Plateau and parts of Bauchi State Tuesday formally took control of the security situation in Kaduna’s four local government areas of Kaura, Zangon Kataf, Jema’a and Sanga.
Daily Trust gathered at the handing over ceremony in Kafanchan that the four local government areas are the major flash points which were part of the seven local government areas earlier commanded by the 4 Battalion of 1 Division since 2011.
Commander of the 4 Battalion, Lt. Col. Hassan Muhammad Bello said the battalion which had been charged with restoring internal security in the area for the past six years had been nominated for assignments outside the country which necessitated the handing over of the four LGAs to the OPSH.
On his part, OPSH Commander, Major General Rogers Nicholas told community leaders that his men would work hard to maintain the peace.
The handover was done by the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Major General Adeniyi Oyebade, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Sanusi Dahiru.
