Task force seals 57 medicine stores in Delta

The Delta State Task Force on Counterfeit, Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods has sealed 57 patent medicine stores in Asaba and environs.

City & Crime reports that the Secretary of the task force, Pharmacist Felix Emeye, who disclosed this in after a two-day exercise embarked upon to rid the state of unwholesome processed foods, said the  stores were sealed on Okpanam Road, Marble Hill, Specialist Hospital Road, Ibusa Road, Bonsac, Oduke, among others.

He said the stores were sealed due to offences which included selling of medicines without licence, operation without approval, non-display of licence to sell medicine, among others.

Emeye listed other offences of the patent medicine dealers to include selling of medicines from unregistered places, hawking of medicines, advertisement of the cure for diseases and selling medicines without National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) numbers.
