Task force recovers 101 of 182 rustled cows

Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), the multi-security taskforce maintaining law and order in Plateau and parts of Bauchi and Kaduna states has recovered 101 cows from the 182 rustled in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on Thursday evening.

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in Nigeria (MACBAN) said 81 cows were still missing.

MACBAN Chairman in Foron, Yahaya Abdullahi, told journalists that the rustlers moved the cows through Foron Mission into Fan District in Barkin Ladi, adding that the herders, on sighting the armed rustlers, escaped and alerted men of OPSH who pursued the rustlers and recovered 101 cows.

A peace agreement between the Fulani of Rob District and Berom of Fan District was brokered on Monday under the supervision of OPSH Commander, Mj. Gen. Augustine Agundu, in which both parties agreed to live in peace and put a stop to rustling.
