Tarok group alleges intimidation, land confiscation to vote APC

The Ngwang Ishi O’tarok, a social cultural group of the Tarok Nation, has alleged undue harassment and intimidation of Tarok speaking voters in the neighbouring Shendam local government area of Southern Plateau ahead of the coming governorship election in the state.

In a statement issued in Jos to that effect by its caretaker committee President, Mr. David Dashe, the group said already Tarok communities in the same local government councils are being threatened to either vote the APC government into power or risk eviction from their residences as well as their farmlands.

The statement added that there are threats to further to unleashed mayhem on them in Shendam as was done during the presidential and national assembly election in the state.

“The continuous threats and intimidation of Tarok people and the drive to impose on them strange political ideas other than the ones they have chosen for themselves will be strongly resisted.

“So, we call on security agencies to provide the necessary protection for our people against the tyranny of few unleashing of violence by some political element in government,” the statement partly read.

But in a swift reaction, the senior special assistant to the state governor Simon Lalong on Media and Publicity, Mark Longyen, dismissed the allegation, saying that the APC administration is seriously on ground in the state and has no cause to intimidate electorate to vote for the party in Saturday’s governorship election.
