Chairman of the Council, Isma’ila Mai Adamu, said renovation of the boarding primary schools have been completed while 60 pupils had been selected for the pilot project.
Adamu noted that mattresses, utensils and 7,000 assorted books have been purchased by the council and distributed to various schools while 30 NCE holders and 15 NYSC members have been recruited to facilitate the smooth take off of the boarding schools. He said that 30 teachers would also assist in conducting extra-mural lessons for secondary school students.
“We had the boarding primary school system before but it was suspended some years back. We reintroduced it because once the children are taken care of completely in school, the parents hardly complain of lack of resources to finance the education of their children. The measure is necessary because some people in this part of the state are not willing to expose their kids to formal education which is now necessary for human resource growth, gainful employment and socio- economic development”, the chairman said. He promised the council will integrate some Tsangaya schools into the formal education system.
