Residents of Jauro Manu village in Gassol local government area of Taraba state have confronted a suspected kidnaping gang and killed one of them.
The villagers also chased away the other gang members said to be about 10 and well-armed.
North East Trust gathered that the villagers came out in their numbers when the gang attacked the house of a large scale farmer, Irimiya Musa at midnight on Monday.
It was further gathered that the villagers supported by vigilantes confronted the invading gang and killed one of them while the rest ran into a nearby forest.
The suspected kidnapper killed was later identified as Haro a motorcycle rider from a settlement not far away from Jauro Manu village.
Irimiya Musa, whose house was attacked by the suspected kidnappers told North East Trust that Monday’s attack was the third by suspected kidnappers.
He said during the first attack he was lucky to escaped into a neighbour’s house but his wife and his daughter were kidnapped.
He said that during the second attack the gang did not meet anyone in the house as he and his family had escaped through the back door when they heard sound of guns fired by the approaching gang.
Contacted, the police Spokesperson, Taraba police command, ASP Abdullahi Usman said he was in a meeting and would get back to our reporter but has not done so up to the time of filing this report.
