The Taraba State government has reinstated Haruna Kawuwa who was sacked after his wife, Safiya, died during the APC presidential rally in Jalingo, two weeks ago.

Kawuwa was sacked by the state government few days after Safiya died alongside seven other persons during a stampede at the venue of the APC presidential rally.

The sack of Kawuwa, a senior local government staff, had attracted condemnation including from members of the ruling PDP in the state.

The letter reinstating him with reference no LGSC/SP/SAR/5/VOL1/335 dated 15th February was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission.

“His Excellency, the Executive Governor Darius Ishaku Dickson, has approved that your dismissal be waived. Consequently, you are by this letter recalled back into the service,” the letter read.

Kawuwa while reacting to the reversal of his dismissal by the state government said he thanked God for everything, pointing out that he knew justice would prevail because he did not commit any offence to warrant his dismissal.
