Taraba gov’ship: NNPP candidate rejects Appeal Court verdict, heads to Supreme Court

Professor Sani Yahaya of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Taraba State has rejected the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja which recently dismissed his appeal against Governor Kefas Agbu.

The Court of Appeal had upheld the verdict of the Taraba State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal against his petition challenging Agbu’s election.

Reacting to the judgment yesterday, he said he was going to the Supreme Court to claim his mandate given to him by the people of the state.

Yahaya said there was no fairness in the judgment of both the tribunal and appellate court, which dismissed his case, adding that the “two judgment was a miscarriage of justice and lacked fairness.”

He said the proceedings papers of tribunal for both political parties in the election petition tribunal were examined by lawyers and it was the tribunal’s secretary who was by law to present the proceeding papers to the appellate court and he was surprised to see eight pages of the copies missing.

Professor Sani Yahaya stated that he and his lawyers were shocked when the court dismissed his appeal because eight pages of tribunal proceeding papers of NNPP were missing.
