The wife of Taraba State Governor, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku, has called for collective efforts to combat all forms of violence in the society including gender-based.

Mrs. Ishaku made the call during the opening ceremony of a two-day workshop on how to tackle violence in the society organised by her pet project, ‘Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba’.

The workshop which took place in Jalingo on Saturday centered on ways to address the increasing violence in the state.

She lamented the increase in vices in the state and called for urgent action to address the problem.

Barr. Anna Ishaku said to address the problem, there was the need for a community-based holistic approach and sustained engagement with stakeholders.

The Monitoring and Evaluation officer of Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba, Sarah David Ibbi, commended the governor’s wife for organizing the workshop and expressed hope that crucial issues and resolutions would be discussed.

A resource person at the occasion, Sanda Benjamin, a psychologist, who spoke on the topic; “Get involved”, stressed the need for all hands to be on deck to address the problem.

He said all forms of violence have negative impact on individuals, families and society, hence the need to support the fight against it across the nation.
