The operations of commercial motorcycles, popularly known as Okada, have been banned in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
Governor Agbu Kefas, who announced the ban shortly after a security meeting on Monday, was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Aminu Yahaya.
Gov Kefas also reviewed the operations of tricycles in the state capital and imposed a restriction on their operations from 6am to 8pm.
The governor said a seven-man task force headed by the Commissioner of Police (CP) had been set up for the enforcement of the laws banning the use of motorcycles and restriction on tricy-cles’ operations in the state capital.

He warned that defaulters were to be tried in mobile courts and motorcycles and tricycles used by defaulters confiscated and destroyed.
