The United Republic of Tanzania has called on the President and Chief Executive of the Dangote Industries Limited, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, to consider investing in various sectors of its economy.
Speaking during a courtesy call to the Dangote Office in Abuja, Tanzania High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Benson Alfred Bana called on Dangote to consider investments in Tanzania’s agricultural sector especially rice production.

“Tanzania has large arable land for rice cultivation that is untouched. My government is ready to have Dangote investment in rice production.” He also invited Dangote to invest in other production lines.
Responding, the Executive Director, Government and Strategic Relations at Dangote Group, Engr. Mansur Ahmed, said the leadership of Dangote Group considers Africa as its base.
“We are looking beyond Nigeria. Our goal is to be the biggest cement producer in Africa and one of the biggest in the World.”
He said Dangote’s venture into Tanzania was not meant to be a short term relationship, while pledging that Dr. Bana’s requests would be considered.
