Tanker drivers resume lifting fuel as queues linger

The Deputy National President of the PTD Dayyabu Garga told Daily Trust that members have resumed product lifting from depots to retail outlets across the country.
However, despite resuming product lifting at the weekend, long fuel queues have refused to disappear at major retail outlets in the FCT.
Although many of the stations were shut last week as a result of the strike by transport owners, Daily Trust reports that the situation is yet to improve as most filling stations still remain shut.
MRS, Conoil located on Airport Road, Conoil, Eterna and Mobil at Jabi did not dispense the product likewise some located inside major satellite towns and the suburbs.
However, the fuel stations that dispensed mostly inside the city had desperate motorists waiting in turns.
The Leadership of PTD had last week suspended lifting of petroleum products on the directive of NARTO, the umbrella body of all commercial vehicles owners engaged in haulage of petroleum products and general cargoes.
At the time of filing this report, the minister of finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, officials of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) and stakeholders in the petroleum marketing chain were meeting on how to liquidate the outstanding subsidy claims that led to the scarcity.
