Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has pleaded with the Chief of Army Staff to come to their rescue over incessant and alarming bandits’ attacks.
He made the appeal while receiving the new General Officer Commanding 8 Division of the Nigeria Army, Major-General Uwem Bassey on Thursday.

Tambuwal said more equipment, personnel and joint decisive steps needed to be taken by the security forces in the country to roll back the current deplorable security situation.
He assured the new GOC of his administration’s sustained and improved collaboration with other security agencies in the state.
In his remarks, General Bassey said the support of every citizen of the state was required to maintain peace in the state. He commended Governor Tambuwal for convening the security summit with all stakeholders two days ago.
He assured that the Nigerian Army would do its work effectively and professionally to enable the people of the eastern zone of the state go about their normal businesses without hindrance.
