A former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, said the time is now for the Nigerian youth to take over governance or they will never get it again.
Obasanjo spoke at the Emerging Political Leaders Fellowship programme organised by the Bridge Foundation on Thursday in Abuja.
He said youths need to be positively disruptive to attain power from the older generation.
“You are the leaders of today, if you don’t take it now, you will never get it. You have to be positively disruptive, don’t accept things the way they are. You need to make those who need to be made uncomfortable,” he said.
Obasanjo, while urging youths not to lose focus on their political ambitions, said Nigeria could have a turnaround in two years if governance is on the right course.
Obasanjo urged Nigerians to be grateful to the generation that fought for the nation’s independence.
The former president, who noted that Nigeria needs common security and shared prosperity, said citizens should learn lessons from the country’s history.
