The Court of Appeal sitting in Sokoto has struck out an earlier judgement delivered by a Federal High Court in Gusau affirming Senator Hassan Muhammad Nasiha as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Zamfara State.
In a judgement delivered by a panel of the Court of Appeal led by Justice Frederick Oho, a copy of which was made available to newsmen, the court set aside the earlier judgement for lack of jurisdiction.
The court explained that it was a known principle of law that the courts generally had no business meddling in the internal affairs of political parties on issues bothering on how they ran their affairs; or even the question of how they chose their candidates for elective offices.
The then National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP led by Ali Modu Sheriff had earlier dissolved the Zamfara State PDP executive committee led by Senator Nasiha.
The Federal High Court had upheld the suit filed by Nasiha challenging the termination of the exco’s tenure when it was still subsisting.
Copies of the judgement were made available by Alhaji Nasiru Abubakar Milo who was elected the PDP chairman after the Nasiha-led executive was dissolved.
