National chairman of the party, Chief Edwin Ume-Ezeoke, told journalists yesterday at the party’s national secretariat in company of former Zamfara State governor, Senator Ahmed Sani Yarima, that “President Goodluck Jonathan has shown that it will not be business as usual in the nation’s democracy, but the police in Zamfara are trying to mess up the president’s positive march. The police have stopped the legitimate tour of the local government by the state executives to see to the successful inauguration of new executives. So, the rigging of the 2011 elections has started.

“Senator Yarima as the leader of the party in the state, has the mandate of the party to lead the tour and we are not going to compromise on our duty to ensure the success of democracy in the country, as the largest opposition party in the land,” Ezeoke said.

The ANPP state secretary, Alhaji Lawali Daniya, had in a letter dated June 16, 2010, informed the Police in the state of the tour.
