A youth corp member serving in Borno State has created a team of 19 of his fellow corps members in the state, called CALL UP-19, to ward off COVID-19 from the state.
Borno State has not recorded any case of the disease yet.
Eso Kayode Felix, a graduate of Dramatic Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, distributed toilet soap to children across Maiduguri Municipal and Jere local government areas
He told Kanem Trust, after the distribution exercise, that the volunteer-team, CALL UP-19 would go round the 27 wards of councils to sensitise the children on hand washing.
Mr. Felix said CALL UP-19 would target the children because of their high population and vulnerability to contracting diseases without the knowledge of their parents.
“I committed 50 percent of my March allowance, which is N16,500. 00 to buy the soap to distribute to the children,” he said.
“This is my contribution to the state where I serve.
“Hand washing is a very vital measure in the prevention against contracting Corona virus,” he said and called on the government and NGOs to follow suit on sensitizing the children.
