Among the children who died in the incident include a 22-year-old final year student of the University of Nigeria, Nsuka Chinelo Nwosu, a primairy school pupil Amaka and Ijeoma who has just finished her secondary education.
The two other affected children of the woman Njideka 18 and Chidera 20 are critically lying sick in the Umunaeke General Hospital while the deceased had been deposited at the same hospital mortuary.
The deceased, Weekly Trust, gathered that after eating suspected poisoned evening meal on the evening of Thursday May 30, 2013 woke up the following mooring only to complain of a serious stomach ache which necessitated them being rushed to the hospital.
A community leader Mr. Patrick Okere expressed deep regret over the incident. He. However, told Weekly Trust yesterday that the deceased mother of the children took her children to her church Charubim and Sarafim for prayers because they suspected it was a spiritual attack.
While they were at the church the situation got worst and that made her to take the children to the general Hospital where they were confirmed dead of poison by a doctor
He said when the widow and the final year daughter started complaining of stomach ache, before they could be rushed to the hospital they died.
Meanwhile, the compound of the deceased has been deserted as at the time our reporter visited as there were nobody to speak with.
