The APC in ward C, Ilasamaja, in Mushin Local Government of Lagos State, yesterday, banned the party’s National Legal Adviser, Dr. Muiz Banire SAN, from holding any office in the next 10 years.
The verdict was arrived at following the report of a disciplinary committee that looked into alleged anti-party activities leveled against Banire.
The national headquarters of the APC had since said no ward or even state chapter had any powers to discipline a national officer.
The Lagos meeting where the punishment was announced took place at the party’s Mushin LG Secretariat amidst heavy security and attracted the executives and members of the party from Ward C.
The Acting Chairman of the party for Ward C, Prince Omobolaji Amusan, who declared the meeting open subsequently called on members of the disciplinary committee, who were led by the Chairman, Mr Bolaji Abass and Secretary Mr Badru Olaide, to present their report to the ward.
After the presentation of the report, Amusan called for its adoption which was immediately and unanimously done by members.
It would now be forwarded to the local government executive of the party in Mushin for further action.
Among other things, the committee recommended the suspension of Dr. Muiz Banire from the party as well as his debarment from holding any political office for a period of 10 years with effect from Monday, August 21.
