The United State Embassy in Nigeria has awarded $110,093 to 16 Non-Governmental Organization from ten states in response to applications to its 2017 annual programme statement.
The US Ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington made the presentation during US Ambassador’s Small Grants Award ceremony held yesterday in Abuja.
Symington said the programme provides one-time grants to community development projects that would improve the socio-economic welfare and health of Nigerians, including communities living with, or affected by HIV/AIDS.
“The US is committed in working with the Federal Government in the areas of community development. We also have a global program design for people living with HIV/AIDS in other to avoid Mother to child transmission, let me also state that whatever the US government does in Nigeria is for Nigerians.
“As we all know, Nigeria faces the greatest Economic challenge, a lot of people are wondering how Nigeria will go about this challenge”, he said.
Symington advised the beneficiaries to make use of the funds giving to them judiciously and make profit out of it.
