Professional Golfers Association of Nigeria (PGAN) Director, Samson Lawal says he’s impressed with the turnout for the Pa Aikwuta Mark Memorial Championship held at the St. Mark Golf Course Akpegede in Otukpo Benue State.
Lawal in a chat with Weekly Golf Digest yesterday noted that over 70 professionals have appeared for much anticipated tournament adding that PGAN over a decade collaboration with the organisers is highly fruitful and will set to continue for many years.
“The organisers as usual have done a good job and we have about 72 professionals taking part. We have worked with the organisers for over a decade now and hopefully our collaboration will last for many more years,” he said.
The four-day tourney officially opened the 2017 professional season as players start a fresh hustle for place on the Tour Order of Merit (ranking).
Sunday Odegha led the 2016 Tours OOM, and he is the player to beat as the event gets underway.
Tournament Director of the PGA of Nigeria, Uche Eze says that the first event is always a tensed one and it takes beyond your skills to finish well there; “you will need to be very calm and very focused otherwise you will pay dearly for every mistake,” he said.
