and three members of the association be remanded in prison custody for their alleged role in the murder of former state chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Chief Omolafe Aderiye (alias Lafeade).
The late Aderiye, 58, was shot dead by yet-to-be identified persons on Thursday, September 25, in front of his office located at Ijigbo, Ado Ekiti. The three others, who were also members of RTEAN, include Sola Durodola, Kayode Ajayi and Oso Farotimi.
The magistrate said the accused persons would remain in prison custody till he receives legal advice from the ministry of justice. But counsel to the defendants, Fred Izuange and Yemi Ogunremi, raised objections that the name of the person alleged to have been murdered was not expressly stated in the charge sheet. The accused persons pleas were not taken as the case involved murder.
Police prosecutors, Samson Osobu and Sunday Nwachekwa, told the court that the case file has been duplicated and forwarded to the state Ministry of Justice for legal advice.
The offence, according to the charge sheet, was punishable according to Section 324 and 319 of Criminal Code Law Cap C16, Laws of Ekiti State.
