The Police on Thursday arraigned one Mustapha Garba, 20, of Orange Market, Mararaba, in a Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court, Aso Pada, Nasarawa State, on a two-count-charge of criminal conspiracy and theft.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Adaji, told the court that on Oct. 12, one Jarfar Gabriel of Tudun Wada Mararaba, reported the case at the ‘A’ Division Police Station, Mararaba.
Adaji said the complainant reported that on the same date at about 6.30 p.m., while he was coming back from work, on getting to Mararaba Junction, the accused came close to him and removed his Itel phone from his pocket valued at N12,000.
He said that the accused also removed his wallet which contained his National ID, two ATM cards and N3,000.
The prosecutor added that after the suspect took the phone and wallet, he immediately handed it over to one Abdullahi, who is now at large, before he was arrested.
He said that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 97and 288 of the Penal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the Judge, Albert Maga, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
Maga adjourned the matter till Oct. 23, for hearing. (NAN)
