Wikki Tourist football club experienced goaltender Sani Halliru is happy to return to league action after several months lay off.
Halliru who is a key figure in the Bauchi side’s quest for a top finish in the league this season told SHOT! in a telephone interview that he is happy to resume training after his lay off due to a groin injury.
According to him, the groin injury kept him off action for several months and has to undergo intensive medical care to get back to training.
The former Lobi and Kano Pillars keeper said the fact that the team maintained their momentum in his absence is an indication that Coach Abdul Maikaba has been able to build a winning mentality into the team.
“I know I have the experience to keep the team going in the league and when I was injured those who took over from me did a good job to keep the temple going for us and I must thank all our coaches and players for doing a marvellous job.
“Now that I am back from the injury, I am happy and want to reclaim my position in the team by working hard to get the nod from my coaches.  I am also praying we get one of the continental tickets,” Halliru said.
The goalkeeper said with the standard of officiating in the league this season, he is confident that only the best teams will pick the continental tickets.
