The National President of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) Alhaji Musa Isiwele on Friday said re-introducing toll gates in Nigeria would generate more revenue than petroleum.
Isiwele who said this during a chat with Journalists in Abuja, argued that since the country needs to diversify its economy it was pertinent to re-introduce toll gates, even as he called for partnership with the Ministry of Transportation on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis, towards realizing the re-introduction of toll-gates across the country.
Isiwele urged the government to acquire “self-service machines” as done it advanced countries to calculate the amount of tickets sold, adding that using such technology would give government the accurate fund generated to avoid mismanagement of the accruing fund.
