The approval followed a communication from the state Acting governor, Alhaji Sani Danladi, which indicated that the tenure of the elected council chairmen and councillors in the state had expired on May 17.
According to the communication, Danladi said Section  15(2) of the Taraba Independent Electoral Commission Law, mandated the commission to conduct fresh elections at least 30 days before the expiration of their tenures.
The acting governor, however, said the date coincided with the period of general elections, making it impossible to conduct the elections at the same time.
The appointed caretaker chairmen include Philemon Bitah (Ardo-Kola), Hassan Bappa (Jalingo), Abershi Musa (Ussa), Nelson Banka  (Lau) Alhaji Zakari Nyala (Yorro), Barnabas
Ibrahim (Karim) and Tukura Bashir (Gassol).
Others include Danladi Suntai (Bali), Barnabas Ibrahim (Donga), Ibrahim Ajiya (Kurmi), Mohammed Tepsy (Sardauna), Kenneth Bitrus (Takum), Mohammed Umar Gayam (Gashaka), Iliya Mohammed (Ibi), Daniel Angyu (Wukari) and Haruna Konko (Zing).
In his remarks, the Assembly  speaker, Mark Useni, said approving the nomination was imperative in order not to create any vacuum of leadership at the councils.
He, however, said the appointments would only last for three months as fresh elections were expected to be conducted thereafter.
The motion for the approval was earlier moved by the House majority leader, Mr. Joseph Kunini, and seconded by Alhaji Hamman-Adama Abdullah of Bali 2 constituency. The House has adjourned its sitting to Tuesday, May 19.
