The Taiwan External Trade Development and the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of mutual cooperation in trade information and activities.

The MoU was signed on the side-line of the Halal Expo taking place in Abuja.

The President of ACCI, Dr Al-mujtaba Abubakar, recognised the efforts and involvement of the Taiwan Trade Mission in building strong economic ties with the AACI.

“You see, the business of the Chamber is to promote business particularly for Nigeria and Worldwide, whosoever partners with us to promote business we will partner with them.  The signing ceremony of this is an indication that we have reached an understanding and we are signing so that going forward we cooperate between our members to promote businesses between Nigeria and those that are resident in Taiwan,” he said.

The Director-General of ACCI, Victoria Akai, explained that the purpose of the MoU was “To take part in the exchange of trade between the Countries.”

She also said that the chamber is ready “to copy the model of business in Taiwan so that we can work in diversity”.

The Taiwan Trade Representative in Nigeria, Andy Liu, said that the MoU has brought both countries together as a family and both are willing to work together as one.

While appreciating those who graced the occasion of the signing, the President and CEO of TAITRA, Leonor Lin, in a video message, wished both parties success in their newly initiated Trade Partnership.

Lin said: “This is a great move in global leadership and it is a privilege to have Taiwan as part of this history-making. I join others to celebrate the Halal Expo Nigeria 2021, which also includes the signing of the MoU.”
