Activities marking a decade of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III begins on Wednesday, November 2 with a symposium titled “The caliphate’s contributions to the economy, politics, leadership and good governance in the sub-Saharan region.”
Revealing the activities lined up for the 10th anniversary, Chairman of the Publicity Subcommittee of the Local Organizing Committee, Alhaji Danladi Bako, said renowned local, national and international scholars are expected to feature at the event.
He said at the symposium, there will also be a presentation on some translated books authored by the founding fathers of the Caliphate like by Sheikh Uthman Bin Fodio, Abdullahi Gwandu and Muhammadu Bello.
Bako added that a presentation on the proposed Nana Asma’u College of Medical Sciences will also feature at the symposium. Part of the anniversary will feature a cultural night, special prayers and rounding off with a grand finale on Saturday, November 5 with grand durbar.
