The Alliance for Democracy (AD) has said that its suspended National Chairman, Chief Joseph Avazi, has no powers to convene a National Working Committee (NWC) meeting as he reportedly did. The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Ms Olayinka Nola, said yesterday in a statement that Avazi remained suspended and the outcome of his purported meeting with some NWC members was illegal and should be disregarded by the public.

According to her, Avazi was said to have suspended all state executives, among other decisions.

“By the constitution of our party, the NWC even if well constituted and properly convened, has no powers to suspend any state exco member let alone the whole national executive.

“Chief Joseph Avazi who has remained suspended from office since September 6, 2017 lacks the authority to convene any meeting until his case is finally determined by NEC,” the statement said.
