The party leaders, at an emergency meeting held in Ibadan, expressed dismay on the recent press conference held by Dr. Okupe in Iperu, Ogun State where he alleged that the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Mohammed Nalado, frustrated moves by the party leaders to be part of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).

At the meeting were the National Chairman (South), Alhaji Dokun Babarinde; BoT chairman, Reverend Isaac Adeniyi; National Secretary, Hon. Adebukola Ajaja; and chairmen of the party from six states of the region except Ekiti that was suspended for anti party activities.

Others are: Alhaji Opawuyi Abdulganiyu (Osun), Alhaji Muda Ogunsola (Oyo), Chief Kehinde Oladeinde (Ogun), Alhaji Nasiru Bolarinwa (Osun), Prince Taiwo Nasiru (Ogun), Ajibola Rotimi (Lagos), Igbinsola Sunday (Oyo) and Ojo Kayode (Ondo).

According to the communique issued at the end of the meeting, the party said the Southwest Accord Party viewed the meeting at Iperu as of no effect and the people at the meeting with no locus standi to speak on behalf of the party.

The national vice chairman (South-west), Alhaji Dokun Babarinde, who read the communique on behalf of other leaders said there was an ongoing effort to identify erring members who attended the meeting. He said that they would be sanctioned if found guilty.

He said Okupe’s clandestine anti-party activities would be reported to the national secretariat for further action.
