Operation Safe Haven, the multi security task force maintaining law and order in Plateau and parts of Bauchi and Kaduna States, says the attack that claimed 10 lives in Nandu village in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State was due to social disagreement between individuals.

The task force commander, Major-General Augustine Agundu, who flagged off a medical outreach and feeding programme in the village Wednesday, said it was unfortunate that an entirely private affair between individuals could degenerate into killings and burnings of houses.

“What caused the crisis is more or less a social altercation between two people on a social level and it degenerated into some level of killings and burning of houses. Therefore people must eschew all forms of violence and learn to live together as brothers and sisters,” he said.

The commander said he had deployed additional troops to Nandu village and has had several meetings with stakeholders in the area adding that, “the troops would be stationed in Nandu to ensure normalcy returns as well as work in tandem with other deployments close to the community to ensure they avert a re-occurrence of the crisis.”
