The Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) had in February imposed ban on sale of SIM cards by the leading operators, MTN, AItel and Globacom, after they failed Key Performance Indicators (KPI) test.
But the companies said the ban has become a great source of worry to them as they have been losing huge sums of money.
The companies, through its umbrella body, Association of Licensed Telecoms Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), called on NCC to review sanction on SIM Card sales owing to its adverse effect on their businesses.
Some of the affected operators who spoke to journalists said they were worried because the ban appeared endless, as it has exceeded the one month period initially announced by the telecoms regulator.
MTN’s Corporate Services Executive, Akinwale Goodluck, said the ban might draw back the development made in the sector.
He spoke when members of the Nigeria Information and Communications Reporters Association (NITRA) paid a courtesy visit to MTN office in Lagos.
